The quick answer

Living through a bathroom remodel is manageable with a plan: know which days the room is unusable, set up a temporary routine in another bathroom, and keep pets and kids clear of the work area. In a South Hill house with two and a half baths, most families barely notice after the first couple of days.

Before demo day

  • Clear the room, cabinets and closet
  • Pick a path for the crew to walk in
  • Move cars if the driveway is the staging area
  • Plan where everyone will shower

Dust and noise

Demo is the loudest, dustiest stretch. We protect floors and close off the room, and the noise drops off sharply once tile work starts.

Homes with one bathroom

Older valley homes may have only one full bath. We sequence the work to bring back a working toilet as soon as possible and tell you exactly which days the shower is offline.

Kids and pets

Keep them away from the work area and open doors. A closed door with a note on it helps more than you would think.
